Michael Cruse
About
Coming from a background in science, Michael Cruse was inspired to pursue winemaking after attending a lecture by Terry Leighton of Kalin Cellars at UC Berkeley. In 2008, after working in various cellars in California, Michael launched his Champagne-inspired project “Ultramarine” from a warehouse in Petaluma. Ultramarine’s success led to the creation of Cruse Wine Co., which he intended to showcase terroir-driven, fruit-forward North Coast wines made from lesser-known grapes, in a style that was still unapologetically Californian.
