  • He is an eighth generation farmer–his family has been growing grapes, olives, almonds, and other crops since 1779.

Jordi Llorens is an 8th generation grape grower and winemaker whose family has lived in the Conca de Barberà region of Catalonia since the 1700s. Jordi became the steward of his family’s property in 2008 and has taken meticulous care of it from the start. He plows every other row, uses green compost and cover crops, and somehow manages to create beautifully verdant vineyards in an arid region. One of his most special vineyards forms an amphitheater overlooking the valley near his hometown of Blancafort. His wines are unique, idiosyncratic reflections of the area he farms and his own personality: dichotomies of fresh and ripe, light and rich, always pure, occasionally rustic. The whites have varying degrees of skin contact, and the reds are rich, but easy to drink and full of life. Jordi’s wines speak to the Catalan way of life and a dedication to his family’s legacy of ensuring that the land is cared for and looked after for the next generation.
